Drone Video Production & Aerial Videography in Orange County
We have been flying cameras over Orange County since long before every agent with a hobby drone started calling themselves an aerial cinematographer. Hilo Motion Pictures runs FAA Part 107 certified pilots, two million dollars in liability coverage, and cinema-grade airframes. The shot is only worth having if you can legally deliver it and the client can actually use it.Our drone video production covers luxury real estate listings, commercial and industrial property, construction progress documentation, live events, marine and yacht work, and brand film across Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach and the rest of Orange County. Coastal reveals over Newport Coast. Tight interior-to-exterior transitions. Controlled low passes that hold focus. Smooth, stabilized 4K and 6K footage graded to match the ground package, so the aerial does not look bolted on.Twenty-two years in, the difference is not the drone. It is knowing which shot earns its place in the edit and which one is just altitude.

What Aerial Actually Adds to a Production
Aerial footage does one of three things well. It establishes scale, so a viewer understands how big a property, facility or site actually is. It establishes context, showing what surrounds the subject and why that matters. And it creates movement that a ground camera physically cannot produce, which is what makes a two-minute film hold attention instead of losing it at the thirty-second mark.
What aerial does badly is substitute for storytelling. A film that is nothing but drone shots is a screensaver. We shoot the aerial to serve the edit, cut it against ground coverage, and match the colour so the two halves belong to the same film. That is the part most operators skip.
Serving Orange County — Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach & Beyond
If you are searching for a drone video production company near you in Orange County, the first question worth asking is whether the pilot is actually certified and insured. A surprising number are not. We fly Part 107, we file for controlled airspace authorization around John Wayne Airport through LAANC, and we carry the certificates your property manager, HOA, marina or venue is going to ask for before anything leaves the ground.
That matters most in Newport Beach, where a large share of the best footage sits inside controlled airspace, over water, or near people. We handle the authorizations as part of the job, not as a surprise on shoot day. It is also why we can shoot Fashion Island, the Back Bay and the harbour without a two-week delay while somebody figures out the paperwork.

Chestnut Hill Hotel & Pacific City
Hospitality and retail destinations sell an experience that only exists in motion. We produced a virtual walkthrough and brewery-market profile for Chestnut Hill Hotel, and a 4K drone aerial tour of Pacific City in Huntington Beach.
Location work rewards knowing the ground. We shoot Orange County constantly, so we already know where the light lands and which stretch is worth the drive at golden hour.
Selected Work
Mag Bay Yachts 33 — Newport Beach to Miami
Mag Bay was founded in 2014 by Mike and Barrett Howarth, the Newport Beach family who co-founded Cabo Yachts in 1991. The 33 Center Console was their inaugural model — a Michael Peters hull built, in Barrett's words, as “a boat of details, where we focus on building everything, even the smallest items, to the highest craftsmanship standards possible.”
We shot it across two coasts. Quadcopter aerials at 4.5K, long cinema lens work from the ground in Newport Beach, and a second unit across locations in Miami. Captured in 4.5K, 5K and 4K, mastered to 1080. A builder that obsessive about finish does not hand the camera to just anyone.
