Here are some frequently asked questions concerning business/industrial video production.
Q: What does Hilo Pictures do?
A: We’re a video production company that works with ad agencies, corporations, local businesses and other entities to produce internal and public-facing video projects. Typically, they are promotional or educational in nature.
Q. How long does it take to produce a video?
A. In depends on the complexity, but generally about 3-4 weeks. Most Video production companies are used to working with deadlines. We've done many quick turn-around presentations in just days. We burn the midnight oil for our clients. We've completed videos in less than two days time, but it's nice to have a little buffer zone.
Q. Can we shoot our own footage and then have a professional video production company edit the footage.
A: Yes, especially if you have competent people in your organization. We'd be happy to consult with you and assist in your production in, anyway. In the past we have rented equipment to clients along with a brief session on best uses.
Q. How disruptive is a video production?
A: Full-production, Hollywood-style crews can be disruptive, it's true. But our crew likes to keep crews to a minimum. Sometimes we only use a one-person or two-person crew.
Q: What should I expect in terms of turnaround times?
A: Every video production project is different, but we typically complete projects within 4-5 weeks. If your project is simple and straightforward, we’ll finish it closer to the 3 week mark. If it has a lot of graphics, custom music and/or must go through an approval committee, you’re probably looking at 2-3 months. Our schedule is also a factor, so sometimes we’re able finish projects sooner than normal.
Q: Can you shoot video outside of the Southern California area?
A: Absolutely! We also have a large network of crews on which we frequently rely to get things done in just about any city in the world.
Q: So, what will it cost to produce my video?
A: That is a loaded questions and It’s tough to say without knowing the details of your production. Solid, professional video starts around $3,000 for one day of shooting and uncomplicated editing. Pricing moves upwards very quickly with the addition of scripting, concept, actors, voice over, multiple shoot locations, animated graphics and custom music. On average, we produce projects in the $5,000 to $60,000 range. Remember there are actors and locations to account for which are usually large budget items the more they add.
Q: How many editing revisions do we get?
A: You have the option for unlimited revisions at any stage in the video production process. However as a guide we normally allow for 2 rounds of amends on any one stage, with an agreed fee for extra revisions outside of the number stated in the contract. We’ll update you through the production process to ensure you can feedback throughout.
Q: How does Hilo Pictures rates compare to video production firms in Southern California?
A: We are by far one of the most competitive priced video production companies in town. We try to maximize any budget and do more with less.
Q: Who owns the footage you shoot for me?
A: When we are hired to produce a project for our clients ,our clients own full rights to all FINAL and finished video projects produced by Hilo Motion Pictures LLC.
As for Raw Footage: A lot of pre-production can go into a shoot and that work is worth something in the form of the raw footage. If the client wants to use it for another project with us...GREAT...there's certainly no charge for that. But if they want to take that footage to another entity and cut something different with it, there's certainly some sort of charge for providing that footage.
Unless Hilo Motion Pictures LLC is specifically contracted on a “WORK MADE FOR HIRE” basis the following rates for raw footage apply:
